Younger son of veteran politician Ranjeet Deshmukh, Dr. Amol Deshmukh has expressed his wish to contest upcoming assembly elections from Ramtek constituency upon Congress ticket, provided he is accorded with an opportunity. Dr. Amol said, “If given a chance, I would contest this election on Congress ticket.”
This news is sure to bring cheer traditional Congress supporters as Dr. Amol brings a lot of international experience in developmental activities in third world countries with him, apart from being a highly educated doctor with specialization in health care management, management of quality systems in large public hospitals and having sound expertise in development sector.
After pursuing his MBBS from Lata Mangeshkar teaching Hospital at Nagpur, he and his equally talented wife Suchika headed for London where she did FRCS in Pediatric and General Surgery, while Amol studied at the prestigious London School of Economics and LSHTM – London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, for his post graduation.
“Amol has been a person very clear in his goals, and he knew he wanted a wider scope of working in the challenging field of public health, Rural development and empowering people to empower themselves through SMEs, even in semi urban areas. So decided to become an active politician and contest elections was a natural extension for him” opined his wife Dr. Suchika.
Thus, with clear goals in his mind, as soon as Dr. Amol Deshmukh finished his studies in London, he joined the famous Fortis Hospital in Jaipur as Quality and Medical Director. He was in charge of getting accreditions for the new hospital and he proved his mettle by getting NABH (National Accredition Board for Hospitals) certification in just nine months! Today, he is a certified Accreditor himself.

While in Jaipur his wife and he began the HERD foundation…Herd Educational and Medical Research Foundation..with a vision to empower rural areas with a vision to develop a community network for sustainable development and medical research.
An active plan of the Foundation is to build a network of eco-communities, with a focus on four core areas to fuel change and ‘make development viral’; Employable Education, Quality Healthcare, Rural Upliftment and Social, Civic and Economic Development.
This foundation has over the last decade carried out many yeomen services to the rural people of Ramtek area.
To be better aware and equipped in his Social Development activity Amol has joined hands with some German NGOs to work as a Development Sector Consultant and worked on the ground in developing third world countries like Afghanistan, Nigeria, Vietnam, Azbekistan and Nepal. He has garnered considerable professional expertise in the upcoming field of Development sector which joins hands with World Bank and other Social sector organizations to bring focused development in 3rd world nations.
The backward area of Vidarbha could definitely benefit from the expertise of this young politician.
