Meritorious X, XII students honoured by BSP

bsp-felicNagpur: The local unit of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) here in the city honoured the meritorious students of standards X and XII by staging their public felicitation on the auspicious occasion of birth anniversary of the ‘father of reservation’ Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj.

To mark the celebration of birth anniversary of Ch. Shahuji Maharaj, the BSP leaders/ office-bearers enlightened the students and their parents/ guardians on the life and significant social contribution of Ch. Shahuji Maharaj.

Prominently present on the occasion as well as who expressed their views included BSP office-bearers like Maharashtra in-charge of BSP Prem Rodekar, state media in-charge Sagar Dabrase, Nagpur zone coordinator Vivek Hadke, Nagorao Jaikar, Uttam Shevade and others.

The audience were apprised of the historical fact by Vivek Hadke that Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj gave reservation to Bahujan Samaj to the tune of 50% on July 26, 1902 for the first time in history of India, and it was he who had sent Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar abroad for higher studies. He exhorted the students to always respect the parents and great men, and follow their advice in order to rise up in life.

He further said that Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar later provided the constitutional berth to the concept of reservation policy advocated by Shahu Naharaj. As a result, the Bahujan Samaj members are reaping the benefit of reservation today, he added, wishing all success to the meritorious students in their lives.
Also present on the occasion were Anand Somkunwar, P B Karade, Praful Manke, Gutam Patil, Mangesh Pagare, Milind Gajbhiye, Pravin Patil, Satish Panekar, Omkar Anjikar, Dr Dharmendra Mandlik, Vilas Patil, Kunal Khobragde, Rajesh Khadse, Milind Mun, Harish Nandankar, Mahendra Bhagat and several others.
