Two navy patrol boats sink following fire at Mumbai’s naval dockyard

Mumbai/Nagpur:
An incident of fire was reported within Naval Dockyard, Mumbai in the early hours this morning. The fire broke out on one of the patrol boats which are deployed for carrying out patrolling off Mumbai.

Prompt fire fighting action taken by the duty staff prevented the fire from spreading to other boats in the vicinity.

During the fire fighting two boats suffered damage and ingress of water and are submerged in shallow waters inside the Naval Harbour.

Efforts are in progress to salvage the boats. Prompt actions by all concerned have ensured that there was no loss of life or damage to other naval assets in harbour. A Board of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the incident of fire.
