1 dead in Dongargarh mandir ropeway mishap

Dongargarh/Nagpur: 68-year old woman was killed and 3 others injured when the rope-way trolley they were travelling in crashed while landing in Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon district. The ropeway ferries pilgrims to the Bamleshwari temple atop a hill from the base.

At least 21 people were stuck midway in other cable cars following the mishap and had to be rescued.

“The incident occurred when the cable car was descending to the ground from the hilltop,” Dongargarh Sub-Divisional Officer of Police Ajit Yadav said. “An elderly woman, identified as Bindu Mishra who had suffered serious injuries in the crash, succumbed during treatment in Rajnandgaon. Her husband Brijbhusan Mishra (71) and relatives Hemlata Mishra (38) and Radhemohan Mishra (35) are kept under observation,” he added.
