Nagpur News: An eleven-year-old boy while walking to a nearby shop was knocked down to death by a speeding matador at a few distances away from his home at Satya Sai Layout in Vikas Nagar in Wadi police station area on Friday night.
Accused driver, 20-year-old Rahul Patle has been arrested. Keshari Gurnani, a fifth standard student, was walking home to buy some daily needs from nearby shop.
However, Patle claimed that he was about to save a cyclist who had come amid his way.
PSI S T Gajbhiye, who investigated the spot, told that Patle was on his way to his residence at Wadi Tekdi when he met with the mishap on Khadgaon road at Vikas Nagar.
“On his way, a cyclist came in front of him and he swerved the matador to avoid collision but couldn’t control the speed and hit a tree before colliding with a compound wall of Devendra Fulsunge’s house nearby,” said Gajbhiye.
Eyewitness told that on hitting the wall, the matador overturned and hit Keshari who was walking through the road side. Gajbhiye informed that Keshrai was almost trapped below the matador.
The minor had suffered head injuries. Fulsunge rescued him and rushed him to nearby private hospital where he was declared brought dead by the doctors.
Police said that the matador also collided with a four-wheeler and a bike kept in front of Fulsunge’s house. Luckily, none of his family members were near the gate or wall and thus no injuries were reported.
While eyewitness claimed that Patle seemed to slightly drunk but police said that the medical reports didn’t show any signs of alcohol in the medical tests of Patle.
Keshari’s loss has shattered his parents and elder brother. It was learnt that Keshari was asked by his father Deepak to bring some daily need material from the nearby shop. An inconsolable Deepak, was seen blaming himself and was feeling guilty as though why he has send his son to the shop.
