11:00 am: As soon as the Question Hour in Assembly on Day-3 started, the Leader of Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil mentioned the notice given under Rule 99. He demanded that instead of discussions the Government should immediately announce relief for farmers.
NCP’s Ajit Pawar supported the Opposition Leader and asked the Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse to make meaningful announcement instead of wasting time on debate. Pawar said Shiv Sena is also demanding measures in the interest of the farmers. Apart from the relief announcement, we are not interested in the proceedings of the House, said Pawar.
Khadse replied that the House is an apt platform for discussions. The Government is committed to provide relief to farmers. The Opposition is politicizing the issue as it is sitting on the opposition bench after 15 years. That is whu it is creating ruckus. Government is ready to reply after discussion. In the past one year the BJP-Shiv Sena Government has taken several measures to help the distressed farmers in the State. And because of the Congress-NCP Government’s failures the farmers have voted us to power, Khadse retaliated.
However, enraged by Khadse’s retort, the Opposition members resorted to uproar forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House at 11.20 am for 10 minutes.
