Nagpur: A 13-year old girl took her own life in Chinchbhavan area of Beltarodi Police Station on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Shweta Raju Uikey (13), a resident of nearby Jain temple, Ramtek.
According to police, Shweta’s grandmother lives in a small room constructed on an open plot near Smruti Co-operative Society, Chinchbhavan and works as a maid. On Saturday, Shweta came with her grandmother to Nagpur. On Tuesday afternoon, her grandmother returned from work and the two had lunch together. Shweta took the extreme step when her grandmother slept after lunch. She hanged herself from a ceiling hook with a saree and ended her life.
Officials of Beltarodi Police Station said that the body of the girl was handed-over to her parents. However, the reason behind her suicide could not be ascertained so far.
A case of accidental death was registered by Beltarodi police.
Newlywed woman ends life over dowry demand:
A newly-married woman took her own life by hanging, allegedly unable to endure the relentless torment she faced over a dowry demand. Kapil Nagar police have registered a case against her in-laws and husband under several sections, including abetment to suicide and dowry-related offenses.
The victim has been identified as Nayan Sarang Pokle. Nayan tied the nuptial knot with Sarang Ramesh Pokle on January 18. Since then, she was allegedly facing constant pressure and harassment from the husband’s family for a significant sum of money as dowry for the purchase of a scooty.
Nayan’s father, Sukhdev Pote (55), a resident of Dadaji Nagar, Jaitala, has filed the complaint. The accused include husband Sarang (32), his father Ramesh Pokle, mother Chhaya, and an aunt. All of them are residents of NIT Quarter, Nara Road.
Man ends life in Bahadura
Vijay Vinayakrao Selwadkar (33), a resident of Plot No 44, Gajanan Society, Bahadura, commited suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling hook at his house on Tuesday evening. Sakkardara Police have registered a case of accidental death and launched a probe.
