Nagpur/Canada: 14 year old Mohammed Faizy who has got his family roots in Nagpur turned the youngest known pilot to fly solo in a fixed wing aircraft. Faizy has already submitted the application to Guinness Book of World Records to register this feat. Faizy, whose mother Jumana Faizy used to live in Itwari before her marriage and later shifted to Mississauga in Toronto, Canada, was elated to share this news to Nagpur Today.
Talking to Nagpur Today over phone from Canada, Jumana said that her son flew solo just after 22 hours of training, beating the previous record of 25 hours of training by Mansoor Anis and other 14 years old US pilot who took 34 hours of training. He broke the record of Mansoor Anis from UAE and Jonathan Strickland from USA for the youngest pilot catagory, she said. It is interesting to note that Mansoor Anis is Mohammed Faizy’s first cousin who earlier became the youngest pilot to fly a plane.
Mohammed faizy has recieved the Certificate for his first solo flight from Brampton Flying Centre, Canada. His First solo flight was about 20 minutes -long during which he taxied the aircraft from the parking bay to the runway, took off for a flight of about 15 minutes and landed back. The Solo flight happened on December 18th 2018 at the Brampton flight center, Caledon (in Greater Toronto Area, Canada)
Jumana said that her mother still resides in Itwari where he visits once every year along with Mohammed Faizy.
Additionally, Jonathan Strickland holds the existing record of the youngest Pilot in the world to fly a fixed wing aircraft at 14 years and 4 months in the Guinness book of world records.
In Canada the age limit to take a solo pilot permit is 14 years as compared to US where it is 16 years. Mohammed Faizy grew up playing on the flight simulator. His sister Zahabia Faizy who got her private pilot license took him on a ride few times when he was only 11 years old.
Mohammed Faizy took his first flight in Vancouver with the Flight instructor when he was 12 years old. He enjoyed watching the scenery from the top and felt free like a bird. Since then he was very passionate into flying. He took his Flight training lessons at the Brampton flight centre, Caledon .
He was raised in the city of Mississauga (General Toronto area, Canada), where he currently resides with his family. Mohammed’s mother Jumana is a doctor of physical therapy and father, a Civil Engineer. Besides Nagpur, Mohammed also has strong ties with Ujjain city where his mother and father were born and where his grand parents currently lives.
Jumana shared a very interesting thing about Mohammed. “Most mornings, when he gets up from bed, the first thing he asks is “Mom, can I fly today?”, said Jumana.
