Nagpur: The Winter Session of State Legislature to be held in Nagpur in December is set to go steamy as Safal Maratha Samaj has decided to take out their ‘Silent March’ on December 14. The organizers of the ongoing state-wide morcha said that the date was decided at the recently held meeting in Aurangabad.
The ‘silent morcha’ is likely to be participated by around 15 lakh people. Apart from the December morcha, a similar morcha is also being taken out on 25th of this month by Marathas at Kasturchand Park. According to Safal Maratha Samaj, this morcha will be of district level and will be participated by the community members in full strength. At the same time the organizers have denied any rift over the word Maratha-Kunbi in the agitation.
Interestingly, except the morcha in Vidarbha, the name of the agitation undertaken state-wide was Safal Maratha Muk (Silent) Morcha. It is only in Vidarbha that the morcha is being called Maratha-Kunbi Muk Morcha. “There is no difference between Marathas and Kunbis. In Vidarbha, the community calls itself as Kunbis for the purpose of identity. It does not mean a rift is brewing among the community members,” the organizers said.
The December 14 Silent Morcha in Nagpur will be taken out from eight places but culminate at only one designated place. Five young girls will the silent morcha being taken out to press their various demands including death sentence to Kopardi incident perpetrators, reservation for Marathas, amendments in Atrocities Act, implementation of Swaminathan Commission report, dumping of creamy layer rule for OBC etc.
