2 goons ransack hotel in MIDC, demand Rs 10,000 ‘haptha’ from owner

Nagpur: MIDC police have launched a search for two goons who ransacked a hotel and demanded Rs 10,000 ‘haptha’ (extortion money) per month from the owner of the hotel. The goons who damaged printer scanner kept at reception counter and glass board of the hotel also bashed up the owners and doled out threats if their money demand is not met.

A resident of House No. 1529, Amare Nagar Ward No. 2, Rakesh Bhimsen Tiwari (36) in his complaint to MIDC police said that he runs Hotel Chandra Inn at Gedam Layout, Hingna Road.

Around 5 pm on Sunday, Rakesh Tiwari was at his hotel. At the same time, the accused Vicky Bhurle (28), resident of IC Square, Hingna, and his accomplice entered the hotel and caught hold of collar of Rakesh and started hurling abuses.

The accused told Rakesh that he will have to pay Rs 10,000 as ‘haptha’ per month if he has to carry his hotel business. When Rakesh refused to meet their demand, the accused goons thrashed him and also damaged printer scanner kept at reception counter. While leaving the hotel, the two miscreants pelted stones on glass board of the hotel and caused loss of Rs 25,000.

MIDC PSI Madankar has registered a case under Sections 387, 427, 294, 506, 34 of the IPC against the two accused and searching for them.
