Nagpur: Two goons, who had tried to kill a youth by firing two bullets on him in a filmy-style drama, were nabbed by DB Squad of Lakadganj Police Station in equally action-filled sequences.
It may be recalled that on January 27, 2017, the two accused ruffians Dheeraj Shyam Malik (25) and Sumit alias Namo Bandu Meshram (30), both residents of Corporation Colony, near Gangabai Ghat had arrived in the area on their motorcycle around 11.30 pm to settle a score with a youth named Ashwin Rajesh Mohle (27), resident of the same area. Ashwin’s brother Pravin Mohle and another youth Vasu Kale are decoration and buggy generator profession. The two accused who were earlier externed were blaming Ashwin and Vasu Kale for their externment.
Further, with threatening words, the two goons were extorting money from Ashwin and Vasu for liquor frequently. This extortion had led wordy duels between them.

On January 27, with the intention of eliminating Ashwin, the two accused Dheeraj and Sumit caught Ashwin. One of the accused Dheeraj whipped out a country-made pistol and put the weapon at his neck and dragged him to a house belonging to Vasu Kale. The two accused kicked the door of Vasu’s house and when his wife came out, held out a threat. The goons said, “Jaise isko laya hai, vaise Vasu ko bhi thokenge” (The way we have dragged Ashwin here the same way Vasu will be hit). As the two goons were talking to Vasu’s wife, Ashwin saw an opportunity to free himself from their deadly clutches and ran for his life. But as he started running, the two accused fired two bullets from their gun with the intention to kill him. However, the bullets missed Ashwin by a whisker. After enacting the spine-chilling drama, the two accused fled the spot. The scared Ashwin straightaway approached Lakadganj police and registered a case in this connection.
At that time, Lakadganj police had registered a case 18/2017 under Sections 307, 506(B), 323, 34 of the IPC read with Sub-Section 3+25 of Arms Act and Sub-Section 7 of Criminal Law Amendment Act.
The DB Sqaud of Lakadganj Police Station had mounted a hunt to nab the absconding accused duo. On Friday, (February 10) the cops received secret inputs that the two goons were spotted at Prajapati Square near NIT Garden. Acting swiftly, the DB Squad sleuths reached the spot and surrounded the two accused. But the two goons smelt the cops and tried to escape on their Scooty Pep moped. What followed was a hot chase. Ultimately, cops succeeded in nabbing the fleeing accused. Both were produced in a court which remanded them to police custody till February 11. During custody interrogation, the goons told cops that the gun and two bullets were thrown under Railway Bridge on Kanhan River. Subsequently, the gun and bullets were recovered by the cops. Now, the two miscreants are being probed from where the gun and bullets were procured.

Interesting angle:
Another interesting angle is being added to the episode. When the cops were chasing the two goons on the day of incident on January 27, a “girlfriend” of one of the accused created a scene to help the accused escape. The “lover” bit hand of one of the cops and even threatened end life by jumping before a train. The incident took place near Kalamna Rail Line in Vijay Nagar slums. As the “girlfriend” created the drama, the two accused had managed to escape the police net just four days after the January 27 incident.
