Nagpur: Nagpur: The possibility of holding Lok Sabha elections in March has been announced. In this context, significant transfers had been made within the state police force in January, including the transfer of 47 police inspectors to Nagpur. However, the Election Commission had explicitly stated that the transfers of police inspectors who were not actively serving in police stations at the time of the transfers would be considered invalid. Subsequently, the office of the Police Commissioner has revoked the transfer of 29 police inspectors to the city.
According to these orders, these police inspectors will return to their previous postings, with 18 of them returning to their respective former districts. The list, announced on January 31, included inspectors serving a three-year term until June 30, 2024. The decision to revoke these transfers was made in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Election Commission to ensure a free and fair electoral environment. However, some police officials in the state had approached the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal.
