Nagpur: Ajni Police arrested three persons, including two brothers, in connection with the brutal murder of 32-year-old Pawan alias Deepak Vijay Sontakke, which took place in full public view at Shatabdi Chowk in Nagpur on Monday night.

The accused have been identified as Rajesh Ruprao Pradhan (32), his brother Bhima Pradhan (35), and Vicky Bhimrao Gambhir (30), all residents of Kaushalya Nagar. The incident took place when Sontakke, a resident of Lane No. 2, Ramteke Nagar, who worked as a salesman at a footwear shop in Sitabuldi, got into an altercation with the Pradhan brothers, Gambhir, and some autorickshaw drivers, allegedly over liquor at Shatabdi Nagar Square near Taywade Hospital late on Monday night.

The argument escalated with Sontakke reportedly hurling abuses at the group. In a fit of rage, the accused trio, along with their accomplices — who were all allegedly intoxicated– attacked Sontakke with sharp-edged weapons, killing him on the spot in front of horrified onlookers.
