3 bikers riding triple-seat killed in road mishap in Nagpur

Nagpur: Three youths were killed when the motorcycle they were riding triple seat went out of control and dashed against an electric pole after hitting a road divider near Dhomne Sabhagriha on Rana Pratap Nagar Ring Road in Nagpur.

Though the mishap occurred on March 25, Rana Pratap Nagar Police registered a case against the deceased bike rider after investigating the incident on the basis of the CCTV footage on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as Prakash Bhaiyyalal Raut (25), a resident of Hiranwar Layout, Ashtavinayak Nagar, MIDC; Nikesh Gyaneshwar Atkare (27), a resident of Amar Nagar, Hingna and Umesh Rameshwar Shende (25), a resident of Hiranwar Layout, Jaitala.

They were riding triple-seat on a Bajaj Platina motorcycle (MH-31/BZ-4433) during Holi celebrations around 1.45 pm on Monday. In front of Dhomne Sabhagriha, Prakash Raut lost control of his speeding bike. The bike first hit the road divider and dashed against the roadside pole injuring all of them seriously.

Prakash Raut and Nitesh Atkare were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) where doctors declared them ‘brought dead.’ Umesh Shende was taken to Padole Hospital at Swavalambi Nagar Square. From there, he was shifted to GMCH where he succumbed to his injuries the next day.

PSI Satish Bhole registered a case under Sections 279, 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code, read with Sections 184, 128 of the Motor Vehicle Act, against the deceased Prakash Raut.

Police said that there was a delay in registering the case as the identities of the deceased youths could not be established immediately. Even there was no eye-witness to the mishap to tell police how the accident occurred and who was riding the bike. Finally, police checked the CCTV footage and registered the case.
