Nagpur: Ganeshpeth Police in Nagpur registered a case against three individuals for allegedly duping a pharmacist, Akshay Bhaiyyabhau Bahekar (51), in an online fraud amounting to Rs 88.69 lakh and abetting him to commit suicide.
A resident of Chhipiya, district Gondia, Bahekar, who worked at the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College & Hospital in Nagpur, was found dead by suicide after consuming poison at Room 302, Hotel Rajdhani, Central Avenue, on August 3.
In his suicide note, Bahekar mentioned that Sameer Patil, Arjun Mehta, and Pranav Sharma had enticed him into investing in the Royal Parekh Company, promising high returns. Trusting their claims, Bahekar transferred Rs 88.69 lakh to the bank accounts they provided. However, when no returns were received, Bahekar became deeply troubled due to mounting debts and eventually took the drastic step.
Police registered a case under Sections 108, 318(4), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against Patil, Mehta, and Sharma based on Bahekar’s suicide note. Further investigations are underway.
