Nagpur News : City police pinned down on three chain snatchers and two jewellers in the last 24 hours. While Dhantoli police has arrested two youths on bike who had attempted to rob a woman, crime branch police has nabbed two youths who has confessed of committing 7 cases of chain snatching in the city.
Nitin Banewar, 23, and Ajay Yadav, 29, both resident of Indira Nagar, Jatatrodi, were nabbed by detection squad of Dhantoli police station. Both were held within minutes after their robbery attempt failed.
Complainant Vijeta Dable, 27, claimed that she was riding pillion on her husband’s scooter through Neeri Road when two youths on a bike (MH31- BR3810) attempt to snatch her chain. However, she foiled their plan by tightly holding the chain and pushing them back. Though the youths managed to fled, her husband alerted police station who then passed the message to patrolling staff. Police chased down the chain snatchers and seized their bike, which was later learnt that it was also stolen one.
In other incident, Mohammad Aafiq Ahmed and Juned Khan, both aged 20 from Dobi Nagar, were nabbed by crime branch police. The duo has confessed of sealing a cell phone from Gittkhadan police station area and had committed seven chain snatching cases under the jurisdictions of Imambada, Ambazari and Jaripatka police station.
Police has also rounded-up the jewellers Javed Akhtar Ali, 37, a resident of Lashkaribagh and Shaikh Ashfaque of Dobi Nagar for buying the stolen gold amount. Besides stolen cell phone and bike, police has seized gold worth Rs 2.5 lakhs from all four accused.
