3-day workshop on zero budget natural farming from May 3 in city

Nagpur: “If farmers’ suicides are to be curbed then there is no substitute to the natural farming. This is the best method aimed at stopping the unfortunate suicides by farmers.” With this message at the core, a 3-day state level workshop is being held in city from May 3 to 5.

The workshop, organised by Nagpur Natural and Vidarbha Zero Budget Adhyatmik Shet Andolan Samiti, will be held at Dr Vasantrao Deshpande Hall. The event will be inaugurated by Mayor Nanda Jichkar and presided over by State Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar. Other dignitaries to grace the event include former MPs Vijay Darda, Avinash Pande, MPCC General Secretary Muzaffar Hussain, Rajkumar Tirpude and Dr Vaishali Khandait.

Renowned agriculturist Padmashri Subhash Palekar will provide valuable guidance in an array of subjects such as natural farming method of agriculture that counters the commercial expenditure and market dependency of farmers for the inputs like fertilisers and pesticides, locally obtainable natural bio-degradable materials and combine scientific knowledge of ecology and modern technology with traditional farming practices based on naturally occurring biological processes etc.

Around 1000 farmers have registered their participation in the workshop. Stalls on sale of indigenous seeds and books based on natural farming will be installed at the venue.
