Nagpur: Sakkardara Police on Tuesday booked eight persons, including three directors and two agents of Lust Nidhi Limited (The People’s Bank), for allegedly defrauding investors to the tune of Rs 33.27 lakh.
The accused have been identified as directors Kamlesh Dhote, Sagar Patil and Umesh Patil, agents Sandesh and Arjun Singh, Amar Pansok, Vinod Chawla and Prince Kelkar.
According to the complainant, Mohammad Salim Mohammad Sharif (42), a resident of Plot No 152, Niral Society, Tajbag, the office of Lust Nidhi Limited (The People’s Bank) is situated at Plot No 137, Chaitanya Apartment, Dattatraya Nagar, New Subhedar Layout. In December 2020, the accused lured him to invest Rs 30,000 as fixed deposit with the company by promising a loan of Rs 3 lakh. They also promised him a loan of higher amount on investment of Rs 2 lakh. Accordingly, he invested Rs 30,000 as fixed deposit in his wife’s name but did not get any loan. Using similar modus operandi, they duped other investors of Rs 33.27 lakh.
On the basis of the complaint, police registered a case under Sections 409, 420, 34 of the Indian Penal Code read with Section 3 of the Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors (In Financial Establishments) Act, against the accused persons. Further investigations are underway.
