Nagpur: The Crime Branch of Nagpur Police has uncovered three cases of e-rickshaw battery theft in the city, leading to the arrest of four accused. The police have also seized stolen batteries and the vehicle used in the crime.
Based on confidential information, the police conducted an operation in the Lakadganj police station area. Three theft cases had been registered in this locality, where thieves stole batteries installed in e-rickshaws during the night. During the investigation, police obtained CCTV footage that showed a suspect fleeing after each incident. Acting on these leads, the police began searching for the auto-rickshaw used in the crime.
During patrolling, a Crime Branch Unit 3 team spotted the suspected auto-rickshaw in the premises of Lakadganj police station. The driver, Raja Khan Salim Khan, and his accomplice, Johnson Sanjay Pal, were taken into custody. During interrogation, they confessed to committing three battery thefts in the Lakadganj area.
The stolen batteries were sold to scrap dealers Sohail Ramzan Khan Taji and Ramzan Khan Baldar Khan Taji, who were later arrested. The police have recovered the stolen batteries from them.
The details of all arrested individuals have been entered into the SIMBA app, and further investigation is underway.
