Nagpur: In yet another incident of its kind, three conmen tricked and robbed an aged woman of her gold bangles by posing as police officers. Kalamna cops have launched search to nab the three ruffians.
The victim Sultana Bi Ahmed Rathod Jamil Ahmed Rathod (65) of Plot No. 372, Subhash Nagar, Kalamna, was returning home walking around 6.30 pm on Thursday. Midway, she was accosted by the three conmen who told her that they are police officers and that she should keep her gold bangles in her bag as robbing takes place in the area. Believing the conmen’s scary tactics, Sultana Bi removed her gold bangles worth Rs 37,000 and was keeping them in her bag. At the same time, the three bogus police officers, on the pretext of helping her, took the gold stuff from her hands and showed as if the bangles are being kept in her bag. In fact, the three accused diverted her attention and pocketed the gold bangles for themselves slyly and vanished from the scene, too. After a while, Sultana Bi sensed something amiss and checked the bag only to find it empty.
Kalamna PSI Sonparate has booked the three bogus police officers under Sections 419, 170, 342 of IPC and launched a hunt to nab them.
