Nagpur: In a significant response to the state government’s initiative, over three lakh women from both rural and urban areas across the six districts of the Nagpur division have applied for the ‘Mukhyamantri-Mazi Ladki Bahin Yojana’, officials announced on Friday.
State Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik reviewed the registration process via a video call on Friday, with participation from divisional commissioners, collectors, ZP CEOs, and NMC commissioners across the state. A dedicated web portal is set to launch in the coming days, which will expedite the registration process. Additionally, directives have been issued to prominently display scheme details at all help centers.
Alongside Anganwadi workers, other village-level employees will be appointed to facilitate online applications via a mobile app. As of July 11, a total of 3.01 lakh applications have been received, including 75,499 online and 2.25 lakh offline registrations from Nagpur, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Wardha, Bhandara, and Gondia districts.
Nagpur district led with 1.08 lakh applications, followed by Gadchiroli with 1.05 lakh applications. Municipal corporations in Nagpur and Chandrapur accounted for 32,435 applications. Recently, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde issued strict directives to ensure a seamless application process for the scheme, emphasizing the need to eliminate any malpractices or delays, especially those involving bribes.
