3 pickpockets caught red-handed while trying to rob Ganesh devotee at Chitar Oli

Three pickpockets, who were trying to rob a Ganesh devotee taking advantage of heavy rush at Chitar Oli, were caught red-handed and handed over to police.

Kamalesh Harichandra Pandey (28), resident of Gittikhadan, Katol Road, had gone to Chitar Oli on Friday night for purchasing an idol of Lord Ganesh. After selecting an idol, Kamalesh was placing that idol on a vehicle. At the same time, taking advantage of heavy rush at the spot, the three pickpockets namely Mohd Husain Ashraf Shabbir (22), resident of Char Khamba Square, Pachpaoli, Rohit Prakash Girhe (18) of Hinganghat and Shubham Ramesh Shelar (18) of Girad, tried stealthily to remove a mobile phone worth Rs 17,000 from pocket of Kamalesh. But their act was noticed by someone who raised an alarm. The accused trio was caught immediately and handed over to Kotwali police.

PSI P R Fulzele booked the three accused under Sections 379, 511, 34 of the IPC and placed them under arrest.
