Nagpur: Sadar Police in Nagpur arrested three robbers and seized 15 stolen cell phones and three scooters collectively worth Rs 2.69 lakh from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Uday Bunty Malik (20), a resident of Jagnade Chowk, Nandanvan, Nitin Sudhakar Kurrewar (30), a resident of Juni Shukrawari, Kotwali, and Manthan Santosh Khobragade (20), a resident of Sadbhavna Nagar.
The accused were involved in two robberies and one vehicle theft in Sadar area, one robbery in Ambazari area, one vehicle theft in Kuhi and one in Kotwali area. With their arrests, cops detected six cases.
The arrests were made by Senior PI Manish Thakre, PI Arun Kshirsagar, PSI Santosh Shidole, PSI Nilesh Ghogre, PSI Abhijit Chikhlikar and others under the supervision of senior police officials.
Four nabbed for robbing man of Rs 80,000 near Maharajbag:
Sitabuldi Police nabbed four of the five robbers who had looted Rs 80,000 cash from a 31- year-old man at knifepoint near Maharajbagh on Wednesday evening.
The accused have been identified as Satish Gyandeo Gaikwad (29), a resident of Wadoda, taluka Mankapur, district Buldhana, Shabbir alias Monu Balakat Sheikh (27), a resident of Rajiv Nagar, Shubham Sahdeo Pathan (27) and Gautam Raju Bhalavi (21), both residents of IC Chowk, Gedam Layout, MIDC.
The accused sent an advertisement on the cell phone of Rahul Vasudeo Thakur mentioning that they would give Rs four lakh on an investment of Rs one lakh. Rahul, a resident of Sushil Nagar, Zingabai Takli, Mankapur, contacted the cell number 8604306885 mentioned in the advertisement. The accused asked him to come near Maharajbagh with the cash. Thakur took Rs 80,000 with him and came near Maharajbagh around 5.30 pm on Wednesday.
The accused quartet and one of their accomplices snatched the bag containing cash from Thakur at knife-point and thrashed him. Thakur shouted for help. His uncle and friend who were standing at a distance rushed for his rescue. Some cops, who were patrolling the area, chased and nabbed the accused. However, one of their accomplices managed to escape.
Police registered a case under Sections 395,420 and 417 of the Indian Penal Code, read with Sections 4/25 of the Arms Act, against the robbers.
