Nagpur Today: Institute of Miners’ Health, an autonomous institute under Ministry of Mines is celebrating its silver Jubilee year. During its silver jubilee year the institute will be organizing various events and academic activities to promote occupational health and hygiene among mine workers and create awareness for prevention of occupational diseases. In this context the institute is organizing IXth NIMH — DGMS – ILO National training workshop on “Detection of Pneumoconiosis and use of ILO Classification 2000” from 25th to 28th March 2014 at The Hotel Pride, Nagpur. The workshop will be conducted over 4 days and will provide training and opportunity to medical officers to gain expertise in use of ILO Classification for detection of pneumoconiosis at early stage and take preventive measures.
The workshop will be inaugurated by Anup Biawas, Deputy Director General of Mines Safety, DGNIS, Nagpur who is the Chief Guest for the inaugural function on 25th March, 2014 at 9.30 am. Dr. Bela Bhattacharya, Chief of Medical Services WCL, Nagpur is the Guest of Honor. The other dignitaries present will be officials from DGMS, WCL, MOIL IGMC. Etc.
The workshop will focus on detection of pneumoconiosis among mine workers and will be attended by over 30 doctors from different mining companies and other organizations throughout the country. ILO Classification for evaluation of chest radiographs is used in Epidemiological Research, Medical Surveillance for dust diseases, Clinical Diagnosis, Disability evaluation and Compensation.
