Nagpur: In a heart-wrenching incident, a seven-year-old boy was killed in a road accident after being hit by a speeding vehicle in front of his parents on Nagpur-Saoner Highway under the limits of Koradi Police on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Shivam Yograj Medolia, a resident of Plot No 48, Goodluck Society, Koradi. A police official said that Shivam’s parents are labourers. Recently, the family of four including Shivam’s parents and sister went to their village at Narkhed for Christmas vacation. On Sunday evening, the family boarded in an auto-rickshaw for Koradi. The three-wheeler arrived at Koradi at 6 pm. The four alighted the vehicle and started walking to cross the road.
Shivam was unaware about the speeding vehicle coming from another side and got hit. He fell on the road and sustained grievous head injuries. The parents and sister were shocked to see Shivam lying in the pool of blood. A large number of passers-by rushed to the scene and they rushed profusely bleeding Shivam to a hospital where he succumbed to the injuries, police said.
A case under Sections 279, 304 (a) of Indian Penal Code, read with Sections 134 and 177 of Motor Vehicle Act was registered by Koradi police. The police are yet to identify the vehicle involved in the accident.

Meanwhile, one person died and four, including a Sub Inspector and two constables, were injured after their SUV, which was responding to an accident call, was hit by a four-wheeler in the Hingna area of Nagpur, police said on Monday. The incident took place late Sunday night.
According to police, two trucks had collided in the Mondha area and the sub inspector led a team of two constables and some villagers in a SUV to the site for relief operations. However, the SUV was hit by a four wheeler and it overturned, killing one person and injuring four, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Mohan Ratan Singh Rathod (52), a resident of Raipur, Hingna, while the injured persons include PSI Bhosle, police constables Swapnil Dadmal and Mohan Rathod, and Tameshwar Tanesh Gaharule (38), a resident of Khadka, Gumgaon, Hingna.
Two trucks collided head-on in the Mondha area on Sunday night and the driver was trapped in the cabin. Police Inspector (PI) Vishal Kale and his colleagues rushed to the scene upon receiving the distress call. PSI Bhosle, accompanied by villagers, set out to provide assistance in a Maruti Brezza car (MH31/FR-0423). The tragedy struck when another vehicle collided with the Brezza car. The impact caused PSI Bhosale to lose control on the wheels. The car hit a cowshed and overturned. All occupants of the vehicle suffered injuries with Mohan being critically hurt. Mohan was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead by the doctors, said police.
In a surprising twist, it has been revealed that one of the injured persons was previously involved in an assault case registered in March last year. PSI Bhosale is investigating this case. The person accused of the assault was also present in PSI Bhosle’s car when they were en route to assist the accident victims. The police referred to the assailant as a vigilant citizen in the FIR
A case of causing death by negligence, rash driving and other offences has been registered in connection with the accident, the Hingna police station official said.
