Nagpur: Dhantoli Police arrested a 70-year old man for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl of a family friend. The accused was known to the family and often played with the victim.
The accused, Sukhram alias Babu Shyam Bhoi is a resident of Dhantoli. The mother of the 10- year-old victim in her complaint to the police alleged that Bhoi took her daughter to his house and sexually assaulted her between November 15, 2023, and February 18, 2024. Two days ago, the accused called the victim to his house on the pretext of playing and raped her. Discomforted, the victim informed her parents.

Following the complaint of the victim’s mother, police registered a case under Sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to a girl or woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (Sexual harassment), 354B (Assault or use of criminal force to a girl or woman with intent to disrobe) of the Indian Penal Code, read with Sections 4 (Punishment for penetrative sexual assault), Section 8 (Sexual assault), 12 (Punishment for sexual harassment) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act against the septuagenarian.
