Many individuals have been infected, prompting the health department to urge citizens to take special precautions.
Thane District on Alert
Thane district has also experienced heavy rainfall, leading to an uptick in various infectious diseases. To ensure timely and optimal treatment, a special updated unit has been established at Thane Civil Hospital. This unit is equipped with essential medicines and an emergency paramedical team.
Paramedical teams are on standby at Thane Civil Hospital to treat patients suffering from leptospirosis, dengue, and malaria. Additionally, under the Prime Minister’s PVTG Development Mission, efforts are focused on providing fundamental health and nutritional facilities. In the tribal and remote areas of Thane district, a mobile medical unit is operational in Murbad and Shahapur talukas, with nine more units set to start on August 1st, according to district health officials.
Fear of Disease Outbreak in Pune Post-Floods
In Pune, the aftermath of the recent floods has disrupted daily life significantly. Many homes were inundated, and although the water has receded, mud and silt remain. This has raised concerns about the spread of infectious diseases in the city, and the health department has emphasized the need for heightened caution.

In Nagpur’s rural areas, 72 dengue cases have been recorded in the last 25 days, while 56 cases of chikungunya have been reported in Nagpur city during the same period. Children in Nagpur are also increasingly affected by these infectious diseases, leading to a rise in pediatric OPD visits and hospital admissions. Authorities have urged the public to seek immediate medical attention upon noticing symptoms.
