Nagpur: The city police have launched a drive to check sound pollution caused by Bullet-bikes and slap defaulters with suitable penalty . Action against as many as 309 Bullet-riders has been taken during January to August, this year.

It may be mentioned that Bullet-riders have developed an unhealthy fantasy these days in terms of using noisy cracker-like sound either in horns or in the silencers of their Bullet bikes. As a result when the speeding Bullet-bikes pass through roads, they disturb other riders and passers-by with heart-thrilling and ear-drum tearing noise caused by their two-wheelers. The noise released from these bikes is called ‘Indori Fataka’ in local parlance.

The intermittently released such a noise may become the cause of road accidents, as it suddenly diverts the attention of other riders and passers-by. The noise also disturbs much to the students of road-side schools or educational institutions. According to Google search, the Bullet-bikes manufactured by Royal Enfield after 1993 have 350 distinctive sounds.
