Nagpur: The 85th commemoration Day function of Rao Bahadur D. Laxminarayan was held today the 30th September 2015 at Laxminarayan Institute of Technology, RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur. The function was presided over by the Vice Chancellor Dr. Siddhatrthvinayak Kane Prof. Vishwanathan Raghunathan – CEO MGR Varlaxmi Foundation Banglore was the chief guest. Dr. Pramod Yeole Pro Vice Chancellor RTM Nagpur University, Dr. R.B. Mankar Director LIT and Dr. Anil Hirekhan Deputy Registrar shared the dais. Kumudtai Kamtikar and Anantrao Kamtikar the family members of Raobahadur D. Laxminarayan were prominently present along with a host of other guests and invitees. The program commenced at 9 am by paying floral tributes to the divine donor Rao Bahadur D. Laxminarayan whose munificent donation of 35 lakhs in 1930 established Laxminarayan Institute of Technology. Prof. V. Raghunathan garlanded the Statue of Rao bahadur D. Laxminarayan at LIT.
Thereafter the proceedings of the commemoration day function were conducted at Gurunanak Bhavan of the University at 9.30 am onwards. The students of LIT sang the University song, Vidyan geet penned by Late Prof. S. Warnekar and Laxminarayan Geet written by Late Prof. V. Warhadpande. Dr. R.B. Mankar in his inaugural speech and welcome address gave brief history of the institute and the elaborated various aspects of the personality of Raobahadur D. Laxminarayan referring to the book “Divine Donor”. He has explained the events of the life of D. Laxminarayan in such a way that the audience experienced that these events are occurring this very moment itself, so was the involvement of Dr. Mankar. Dr. Mankar elaborated that LIT will be completing 75 years in 2017, to mark this event various programmes will be organized from 2016 to 2017 declaring it as a “ Platinum Jubilee Celebration Year”.
Pro Vice Chancellor RTM Nagpur University put his views in very touching manner and he expressed that LIT being the premier Institute of RTM Nagpur University should excel in all possible ways and emerge as a world class Institute. Explaining his point in detail he strongly recommended that the LIT needs to become Autonomous in near Future. He also communicated that Vice Chancellor during their discussion endorse the LIT Autonomy. He has appreciated the students for seeking admission and pursuing the education in this Institute in which he himself was desirous to get admission.

Dr. R.B. Mankar introduced the Chief Guest of the function Prof V. Raghunathan who is a Chief Executive Officer of MGR Varlaxmi Foundation looking after the Corporate Social Responsibility. Prof. V. Raghunatahan worked for two years in WCL, Nagpur in his initial days of service, later on he was professor at Prestigious IIM , Ahmedabad. He is great Financial Advisor, a writer par excellence, his writing includes the books on “ Dyryodhana”, “ Stock Market” and the books for children’s and so on. He also nurtures the hobby of painting and cartoon making.
In his speech Prof. V. Raghunathan expressed his gratitude to Rao Bahadur D. Laxminarayan for his magnificent donation to the tune of Rs. 35 Lakhs in the year 1930 for the cause of technical education in this region; he opined that it is not only the amount that counts but the purpose and vision is of greatest order. He confessed that after reading the “Will” and the book “Divine Donor” his respect for LIT as an organization has increased enormously. Previously he felt that the LIT is just a educational Institute but now onwards he visualize LIT as a motivating monument for repaying the social Debt towards the fellow human beings in our society as has been astutely practiced by the great Visionary Raobahadur D. Laxminarayan. He specifically pointed to the students to study sincerely and try to develop healthy Industrial practices, which will be a real homage to this great soul.
During his presidential speech Dr. Siddharthvinayak Kane said that LIT is the most prestigious Institute of the Nagpur University. Just as starting gesture he attracted audience attention towards the legendary Watch situated at LIT Tower and promised all help from University to get it ticking at the earliest. He stressfully endorsed the statements of Pro Vice Chancellor about the Autonomy of LIT. He went further saying that the infrastructure and the facilities at LIT will be updated keeping pace with Global Standards & the latest development in all respects, which loudly applauded by the students of LIT who were present in large number. He reiterated his whole hearted support and commitment for the upcoming Platinum Jubilee year Celebration which is about to start from 2016 to 2017. In the year 2017 the celebration will be culminated in Global Alumni Meet, International Conference along with Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The Institute which survives for 75 years and produced world class Chemical Engineers & Technologists deserves every support from the University. He insisted that Grass Root Innovation system should be devised in LIT.
The Ex Directors of LIT Dr. G.D. Nageshwar, Dr. Natrajan , Dr. Patil and retired faculty members were also present on this occasion. The Heads of various University Departments were prominently present. The University Authorities were present. Various University sections like General Administration, Finance, Garden, Mass communication have extended their support.
The anchoring was done beautifully by LIT students Divya Pande and Aksahy Raje, singing group consisted of students Surumya Sharma, Amisha Rathod, Khushbu Pachare, Rupali Wankhade, Nisha jadhav, Veena Aurase, Ankita Hote, Neha Thawre, Naina Wankhede, Mohini Pachorkar accompanied by Hrushikesh Kakirde on Tabala. All the Faculty and Staff of LIT have taken due efforts to make this function flawless. For LIT it is very emotional and engrossing occasion.
Dr. Anil Hirekhan, Deputy Registrar Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University expressed Vote of Thanks in a very loving and living manner.
The function concluded by national Anthem which was played beautifully on Flute by Final Year B.Tech. student Shrikant Giradkar. Light refreshment followed thereafter.
