Futala Lake turns mystic with IAF tunes

Nagpur: A musical concert ‘Indradhanush’ was organised by Headquarters Maintenance Command, Indian Air Force at Futala Lake on Sunday evening. A symphony orchestra comprising 19 musicians of No. 5 Air Force Band of Maintenance Command, Vayusena Nagar and a choir displayed their astounding musical montage comprising harmony of various medleys, musical composition of popular Bollywood and Western English songs and instrumental songs of popular Hindi numbers.

A strong crowd swayed to Vande Mataram and other. The solo flute rendering of ‘Roja Janeman’ by Sergeant Alex Mon and ‘Hum Tere Bin’ by Corporal KO Singh on the saxophone enthralled thousands of people who spent their Sunday evening at the prominent land mark of the city with their near and dear.

Originally made with the trumpet, horn and drum, these early sounds were developed through the years into modern military notes, whose stirring melodies inspire pride and evoke emotions among service personnel and civilians alike. Their scintillating performance and discipline showcased the spirit of Indian Air Force, the fourth largest Air Force in the world.

‘Indradhanush’ was the grand finale of the 83rd anniversary celebration of IAF. The objective of this event was also to interact with the people, to spread the message of patriotism, to increase awareness about the IAF through the sound of music and to showcase what they are capable of outside the world of martial arts among the people of Nagpur in general and the youths in particular.

In the end, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command Air Marshal Jagjeet Singh presented mementoes to the participants and thanked all guests and Nagpurians for being a supportive part of the event. Apart from the general public of the city and personnel of HQ Maintenance Command, various civil dignitaries and government officials were also present at the event.

Inspiration behind this event was Air Marshal Jagjeet Singh. Air Vice Marshal Praveen Bhatt, senior air and administration officer, Maintenance Command has conducted the proceedings. Chief co-ordinator was Air Commodore CS Thakur, deputy principal medical officer, HQ Maintenance Command. Production team comprised Group Captain JPS Chauhan and Wing Commander T Misbah.
