Nagpur.
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday said that Rahul Gandhi will himself decide when to become President of Congress Party. Gehlot was speaking to media in Nagpur after attending 125th birth anniversary programme of late Jamnalal Bajaj in Wardha. The former Chief Minister replied to an array of questions posed by the media.
Reforms in Congress Party:
When asked about the much talked reforms in Congress Party that has been witnessing continuous decline, Gehlot said that Rahul Gandhi will certainly become President of the party but it is up to the young leader as to when to take command of the party. “The issue will be decided by Rahul and Sonia only. Rahul had chances to become party President and Prime Minister, too. But he did not accept any of the posts. When he thinks it is right time to don the mantle he will do so,” asserted the former Rajasthan Chief Minister.
Current phase challenging for nation:
Describing the current issues engulfing the nation, Gehlot said that the country is heading toward unrest. It is a matter of concern for the nation and the party as well. The present situation is destroying the social fabric and harmony. The effect of the atmosphere is also affecting the image of the Government. The Government is losing trust of the people. The religious fanaticism was never talked in the past nor in any time of period the literatteurs returned their awards in sucha large numbers,” said Gehlot.
Is PM’s silence an assurance?
Ashok Gehlot raised question over Prime Minister’s silence over controversial issues such as beef, cow slaughtering, religious fanaticism, and the statements of BJP leaders. Is the Prime Minister’s silence an assurance? How can a Prime Minister escape from speaking on a controversial issue?
Jaitley’s philosophy baseless:
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley coming in support of Prime Minister and saying that he is becoming target of intolerance of Congress Party is baseless. Jaitley has nothing to say as his department has failed to reduce inflation, bring back black money etc.
Government’s agenda is to implement RSS policies:
The present Government is implementing the policies of RSS slyly. First the policies were implemented under the shadow but are now being pushed ahead as the Government is in majority. BJP is remote control of RSS. The RSS stamp can be seen in the changing educational scenario as wellas other major policy decisions, said the former Rajasthan Chief Minister.
