Nagpur: Buoyed by good show in Panchayat polls at many places, the President of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Ashok Chavan on Friday hinted in clear terms that the Congress party will take the Winter Session by storm and play the role of an attacking Opposition. Chavan was speaking to media after participating in a meeting of party workers and guiding them on various issues.
Govt selling tur dal through blackmarketeers:
The MPCC President came down heavily on the State Government over tur dal issue and said the Government is hand in glow with hoarders and blackmarketeers. “The raids were carried out on hoarders just as token action and the seized tur dal is now being sold through them only. It clearly shows that the Government is with the hoarders and not with the people. The claims of sale of cheap tur dal are hollow. In Nagpur, the pulses are being sold at Rs 200 per kg whereas we had suggested to sell the seized tur dal through PDS shops but the Government rejected our suggestions,” charged Chavan.
Govt will recover loans from farmers:
“The State Government today itself issued a GR in which directives have been issued on measures to be initiated for tackiling drought-like situation. According to the GR, 14000 villages are drought affected and the recovery of loans in these villages has been stopped. However, there are no specific directives regarding recovery of loans. In this situation, the Government can start recovering the loans of farmers,” doubted Chavan and asked the Chief Minister to come clean on the issue.
Government is not game changer but name changer:
According to Congress, the present Government is not game changer but name changer even if the Chief Minister claiming otherwise. The name of Jalyukta Shivar scheme has only been changed. The scheme was started by the previous Government. There are many other such schemes of previous Government whose names were only changed, asserted the MPCC President.
Govt is not giving account of its works:
Chavan charged that the present Government is only issuing claims of several initiatives but they are only proving to be only claims. The ground reality is totally contradictory. Congress had sought information regarding waiver of farmers’ loans and Jalyukta Shivar in writing but till to date no information is being shared with the party, said the leader.
Nagpur is emerging crime capital:
Commenting on the spate of crimes in the Second Capital, Chavan said that the Chief Minister has failed to curb the crimes in his home city. Many of BJP’s leaders are involved in crimes of serious nature and the Chief Minister is on clean chit giving spree. “In clear terms, Nagpur is emerging crime capital of the State,” declared the MPCC President.
Probe Chhota Rajan’s claims:
Taking the serious note of underworld don Chhota Rajan’s claim that Mumbai police is infested with Dawood Ibrahim’s men, the Congress leader said that a high-level probe by DGP himself should be initiated to dig out the truth.
People have shown their trust in Congress again:
The recent success for Congress in Panchayat elections clearly shows that people’s faith in the party has increased again. The voters have taught the Government a lesson. Continuing its good show, Congress would raise people’s issues in the coming Winter Session in Nagpur. On the very first day of the Session, a massive morcha will be taken out to corner the Government on several issues.
The press conference was also attended by Leader of Opposition in Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, former MPCC President Manikrao Thakre and other senior leaders.
