Nagpur: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has celebrated the Constitution Day. It had National Conference at New Delhi, inaugurated by Justice Jasti Chelameshwar, of Supreme Court. The program was webcasted and watched by all Regional Centres. The program at Nagpur Regional Centre is held with E. Z. Khobragade, IAS (Retired) & Founder of Sanvidhan Foundation as Chief Guest and Dr. S. R. Komawar, Principal, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Law College, RTM Nagpur University as Guest of Honor.
The Program started with lighting of lamp and garlanding the Photo of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. In his welcome address Dr. P. Sivaswaroop, IGNOU Regional Director said that Shri. Khobragade has been continuously pursuing the Government of India for declaring 26th November as Constitution Day and now it has become a reality. He said that every Government official should understand the Preamble and work in that spirit. Dr. Sivaswaroop stated that as enshrined in the Preamble about equality of opportunity, IGNOU provides opportunity of education to all sections of the society at their own place, irrespective of their caste, creed, religion, region and place of stay.
E. Z. Khobragade in his enthusiastic speech said that preamble is the objective of the constitution. Philosophy of the constitution is to understand a human being in his/her true sense. The constitution’s main objective is to remove social inequality. Khobragade said that we all are Indians and nation should be our first priority. He emphasized that people should understand their primary duties first. He said that constitution should be understood with open mind. Awareness about constitution be created among children, ladies, employees and teachers. He remarked that for the last 65 years, majority of people are not aware of Constitution and Preamble.
Dr. S. R. Komawar, said that the first words of preamble “We, the People of India” are very pious to us and constitution is a holy book to all of us. Constitution reflects the blue print of the society. He said that Dr. B. R. Ambedkar has given us the best constitution of the world. But in today’s time, deficit of trust and lack of character are haunting our society. To make a cultured child is a difficult task and mother’s role is very crucial in this making. He said that true teacher should be ready for sacrifice.
On this occasion, E. Z. Khobragade has given pledge of the Preamble to all the participants. Laminated copies of Preamble in Marathi are provided to all participants. Y. S. Bhambulkar, Deputy Registrar has conducted the program and Dilip Sonkusale proposed vote of thanks. Paryavaran va Nisarg Sanstha’s Secretary, Madhukar Survade and Treasurer, Shri. Rajesh Sontakke, were also present.
