NMC, Green Vigil Foundation undertakes “Save Energy Drive” on Full Moon Night

: As usual the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Green Vigil Foundation on Thursdayundertook “Save Energy Campaign” on “Pournima” (Full Moon Night). The campaign is undertaken between 8 pm and 9 pm during which streetlights, electrical equipments and other gadgets are switched off by households, offices, business establishments and others that ultimately saves electricity a lot.

On November 25, the “Save Energy Drive” was undertaken in the presence of Mayor Pravin Datke and MLC and former Mayor Prof Anil Sole. The drive this month was undertaken at various places including Itwari Gandhi Statue to Azamshah Square where a total of 42 streetlights were switched off for one hour. The employees of NMC and activists of Green Vigil Foundation met the citizens of nearby areas and convinced them about the importance of saving electricity.

Other dignitaries who participated in the Save Energy Drive include senior Corporator Prakash Totwani, Gandhibagh Zone Chairperson Prabha Jagnade, Women and Children Welfare Committee Chairperson Rashmi Fadnavis, Chief of Green Vigil Foundation Kaustubh Chatterjee, Executive Engineer (Electricity) Sanjay Jaiswal, Assistant Engineer Salim Iqbal, and a large number of activists of Green Vigil Foundation and BJP.

NMC moon light purnimaso-spacerun:yes’>  The project has received several state-level  and national-level awards for strengthening green cover, harnessing solar energy and for creating a scenic spot in hilly terrain.

The hospital and public health care system within Sanjiavn Gram presents a picture of excellence in rural health. The entire activity is run purely on voluntary basis.  A novel titled Soneri Saanj based on true stories of some of the inmates of old age home has been recently published and well appreciated.

Sanjivan Vruddhashram was visited by several dignitaries including Chief Mministers, senior ministers, social activists, senior bureaucrats and dignitaries from all walks of life. Sanjiavn Socio Medico Foundation President Dr Sanjay Ugemuge has urged people to attend the function in large numbers.
