Nagpur: State Transport Minister Divakar Raote on Saturday visited Ganeshpeth Bus Stand and met the woman bus conductor Kalpana Lakde who was beaten and molested by four unauthorized passengers near Dighori the other day. The Minister directed the police to take stern action against the offenders. The Divisional Controller R D Ghatole accompanied the minister during his visit.
It is pertinent to recall that a group four miscreants had molested and beaten the lady conductor of MSRTC at Dighori Square on Friday afternoon. A few other travellers however caught hold of one of the offenders thrashed him severely. He was later handed over to police. According to reports, the bus (MH-40/N 8617) stopped at Dighori Square stop for a minute. The four hoodlums boarded the bus and asked the lady bus conductor Kalpana Lakde to stop the bus at Umred Tool Post as they wanted to deboard it. Since the bus has no stop at Umred Toll Post, the conductor refused to stop the bus at that spot.
One of the miscreants, Subhodhan Gedam, suddenly started beating Kalpana Lakde and abused her in filthy words in full public view. Angered by the action of the four goons, a few other bus passengers caught hold of Gedam and bashed him severely inside the bus. However, other three accused managed to flee the bus. Later, cops from Nanadanvan Police Station reached the spot and took custody of Gedam.
The Transport Minister Divakar Raote had arrived in Nagpur specifically after coming to know of the incident and met the woman bus conductor.
