Nagpur: A middle aged woman was robbed of Rs 1 lakh cash when she was going to return the money taken on credit. Two tricksters midway accosted her and took away the cash by diverting her attention. The looting occurred on Monday afternoon in Lakadganj area. In another incident, a 30-year old woman was tricked and relieved of cash of Rs 28,500 after she withdrew the money from a bank.
Complainant Saledbai Ishwar Gulhur (40), resident of Dipti Signal, Kalamna, told police that she was carrying Rs 1 lakh and was going to return the money she had taken on credit. When Saledbai reached near Hanuman Temple at Shanti Nagar Railway Crossing, two unidentified persons, in the age group of 30-35 years, accosted her. One of the persons started talking with Saledbai and diverted her attention while the other slyly removed the cash of Rs 1 lakh from her bag. After pocketing the money, both tricksters fled the scene.
Lakadganj PSI Rathod has booked the two miscreants under Sections 379, 34 of IPC and launched a search to nab them.
Similarly, another complainant Sangeeta Sanjay Chavan (30) of Dinbandhu Nagar, Bhandewadi, in her FIR stated that she had gone to Bank of Maharashtra Branch in Wardhaman Nagar to withdraw Rs 50,000. After withdrawing the money, when Sangeeta stepped out of the bank, an unidentified man in the age group of 40-45 years was waiting for her. The man told Sangeeta that one of the currency notes in the bundle was bogus. Saying this, the trickster man took the wad of Rs 50,000 from Sangeeta and pretending to be scanning for fake notes, cunningly pocketed Rs 28,500 and returned only Rs 21,500 to Sangeeta.
PSI Rathod has registered a case under Section 420 of IPC and searching for the trickster.
