Nagpur: Lady Entrepreneur Wing of Vidarbha Industries Association conducted a talk on “Pain & Stress Management” at VIA Hall recently. The programme aimed for getting rid of stressful and painful life suffered by every human being. There is a lot of stress while doing a business and for lady entrepreneurs, it is become very difficult to take care of their family too. Most of times, we ignore pains and prefer pain killers. Chronic pain management is an upcoming Super speciality which targets the pain to give pain relief to patients. There are multiple pain conditions which people are not aware and they take over the counter pain killers which can affect their kidneys and other organs.
Dr. Kiran Vyawahare, Consultant Anaesthesia and Pain Specialist Wockhardt Hospitals was a lead speaker of the program. She gave an overview of Chronic pain and described a condition called Trigeminal Neuralgia which affects the males more commonly which can be treated effectively with Interventions. Back pain, cancer pain, vascular pain and many more conditions can be treated with pain management. She has urged the audience and in general to take advantage of the speciality instead of suffering pain and lead a good and healthy quality of life.
The program was followed by another interesting presentation on Pain Management by Dr. Archana Deshpande, Consultant in Anaesthesia & Pain Management, explained the concept of Pain Clinic and its need in today’s stressful lifestyle. She briefed about some common pain conditions i.e. Back Pain, Headache and Fibromyalgia. There are different modalities available for Pain management such as – Oral medicines, Intermittent Muscle Stimulation, Trigger point injections, Ozone therapy, Nerve blocks, Nerve plexus blocks, Nerve root blocks, Epidural blocks, Joint injections, Advanced techniques like Intrathecal pumps, Spinal cord stimulator etc. She also stressed on the Diet advice and Counseling is also given as and when indicated. She stressed on avoiding Pain Killers in day to day life. Managing Pain at the earliest is the key for reducing stress.
Earlier, Vanadan Sharma, Chairperson of LEW, welcomed Dr. Kiran Vyawahare and Anita Rao, IPP of VIA LEW welcomed Dr. Archana Deshpande with floral bouquets.
