Nagpur News: Over twenty former employees of SPANCO Nagpur turned violent during an agitation before the company’s Sadar office on Saturday, alleging that the company has sacked them unfairly and demanding to meet senior officials of the Human Resource Department.
Sadar Police have booked a number of such protesters- employed by SPANCO as meter- readers- after they went on rampage and vandalised the SPANCO office, causing damage to property worth Rs. 2 lakhs. While the protesters are terming the lay- offs as unfair and demanded their jobs back, the company had reportedly hired them only for a temporary period, and had relieved them off their duties after the period ended.
Sadar police have registered a case of Trespass, Mischief and Rioting under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
