Panchpaoli cops solved case of looting within 24 hours: retrieve looted goods

: Two goons way-lay a young man and snatch his mobile and cash from him after attacking him with blades. However, the cops of Panchpaoli Police Station swung into action and managed to nab both the accused within 24 hours.

Victim identified as Nirmal Christopher Ekka aged 27 years and a resident of Waigaon Guturli, Near Reliance Petrol Pump, Umred Taluka, Nagpur District.

On April 28, 2016, 5:45 pm after finishing his college, when he was walking toward the bus-stand near Kadbi Square, however, he lost his way and reached the road between Kolkatta Railway line-level crossing to Panchpaoli level crossing. Suddenly two unidentified persons accosted him and told him that they will show him the right path. The accused then took the victim towards a bushy area by holding his hands.

One of the accused who was wearing a white coloured shirt pulled his shoulder bag and showed him a sharp-edged knife like weapon, while the other accused assaulted the victim with a blade on both sides of his face injuring him badly. After that the accused snatched Rs 670/- in cash, a second-hand Apple 5-S phone costing Rs 8000/- totaling Rs 8670/- from the victim. The victim claimed that the accused then hit a stone to the head of the victim and fled from the scene.

On the basis of the complaint given by the victim Nirmal Christopher Ekka, the Panchapoli Police registered a case against unidentified accused under Sections 394 and 34 of Indian Penal Code and initiated an investigation.

The cops of DB Squad of Panchapoli Police Station then visited the spot. The only information that the victim informed them was that one of the accused was wearing a white coloured shirt and one of the accused called the other as Baba.

When the cops started investigating on an accused identified as Baba, and then they managed to arrest an accused named Baba. When he was arrested the accused identified himself as Baba alias Rakesh Naresh Jodape aged 23 years and a resident of Barse Nagar, Panchpaoli.

The cops also came to know that he is a history sheeter and known to have committed many crimes in the past too. When the cops enquired about his co-accused, he informed that his co-accused was Sanjay Kashinath Panthaone aged 51 years and a resident of Barse Nagar Panchpaoli Nagar.

The cops managed to arrest the co-accused from his residence itself. When questioned, both the accused confessed to have committed the crime.

The I-phone, who was snatched by the accused from the victim, was retrieved from the bottom of the tin used to store rice. The two-wheeler used in the crime too was seized by the cops.

The investigation and the subsequent arrest of the accused was undertaken by the cops of Panchpaoli police Station under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-3 & 2) Abhinash Kumar and Assistant Commissioner of Police Ramesh Taiwade by in-charge of Panchpaoli Police Station Senior Police Inspector R T Bahadure, Assistant Police Inspector Arjun Ghodepatil, Police Head Constable Anil Thakur, NCP Rajesh Deshmukh, PC Roshan Tiwari, Gyaneshwar Yadav and Pradeep Pawar.
