Prominent hotels, bars on Crime Branch’s radar, 7 face action in Nagpur

Nagpur: Cracking down on prominent hotels and bars organizing late parties with hookah and liquor, the vigilant Crime Branch of Nagpur Police recently, initiated a campaign against them. As a part of the drive, cops raided 20 hotels and bars. Seven of them were found violating norms and therefore faced action.

The culture of late night parties is not new to Nagpur. Many hotels and bars in the city are reportedly organizing late night parties for youth. The organizers enable hookah and liquor to revellers. The cops had got information that narcotics drugs were being sold at some places.

Commissioner of Police, Amitesh Kumar took serious cognizance of such incidents and ordered action against the hotels that were indulged in such practice. Following which, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Crime, Chinmay Pandit on Saturday directed action against hotels and bars.

As a result, raids were conducted at 20 places by forming different teams of the Crime Branch. Though, some hotels and bar operators were aware of this action taken at the last moment, Dharampeth’s Fusion Café, Jagnade Chowk’s Sangram Bar and Restaurant, Dhantoli’s Rosetta Elite Club, Civil Line’s Pablo Bar and Restaurant, Sitabuldi’s Calcutta Bar and Restaurant and New Moti Bar and Restaurant were caught for violating the rules.

The action was taken against hotel and bar owners under the Mumbai Police Act 33 (W) 131.
