Nagpur: SUB-INSPECTOR Himanshu Uday singh Meena, attached to Nagpur-based Anti-Corruption Branch of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), was killed after he lost control of his speeding car and dashed against a roadside tree near Checkers Restaurant, VCA Stadium, Civil Lines in the wee hours of Monday.
A resident of CPWD Colony, Seminary Hills, Meena (27) attended a party with his friends on Sunday night. He was returning home in a Maruti WagonR car (MH-31/FR-4741) around 3.30 am on Monday.
Near VCA Stadium, he lost control of his speeding car and dashed against the roadside tree. Staff from Sadar Police Station arrived at the spot after receiving information about the mishap from Control Room Officer. Cops rushed Meena to Mayo Hospital where the doctors declared him‘brought dead.’ A crane was pressed into service to tow the mangled car up to police station. A pall of gloom descended on the CBI office as the news about Meena’s death in the road mishap reached the staff.
A native of Rajasthan, Meena had joined the CBI three years ago. He was posted to Nagpur after joining the country’s premier investigation agency. He was married six months ago.
Sadar Police started the probe after registering a case under Sections 279, 338 and 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code against the deceased.
