Couple cheats man of Rs 1.50 crore in bogus property deal in Mankapur

Nagpur: Mankapur police have booked a couple on charges of cheating a person in a property deal. The deal took place between December 10, 2020 and March 16, 2022.

According to police, the complainant Mohd Yakub Mohd Israil (45), a resident of Plot No 188, Ayyappa Nagar, Jafar Nagar, saw in 2020 a ‘for sale’ board on a house. He dialled the cell phone number mentioned on the said board and got in touch with the accused Prakash Jagannath Ingole (59), a resident of Plot No 26, Krupa Colony. Ingole told Mohd Yakub that the said house was in the name of Meena Prakash Ingole (55).

Police further said that after negotiations, Ingole entered into an agreement to sell the said house for Rs 1.50 crore to Mohd Yakub, who paid Rs 33 lakh in a phased manner. After some days, Mohd Yakub went to the house and found that Abdul Khalik Abdul Gafar was living there. On enquiry, Mohd Yakub came to know that Ingole had sold the same house to Abdul Khalik for Rs 1.60 crore. Abdul Khalik showed the registry of the deal. When Mohd Yakub called Ingole, the latter reportedly avoided answering.

Based on Mohd Yakub’s complaint, Mankapur Police booked the accused couple Prakash Ingole and Meena Ingole under Sections 420, 406, 34 of the Indian Penal Code. Further probe is underway.
