Nagpur: Political circles are agog with the hot topic of “imminent” imposition of President’s Rule in Maharashtra after the State Budget Session. Keeping in mind the elections to some Municipal Corporations in the State, the war of words between the ruling parties and opposition has reached its peak. In this volatile situation, the possibility of the civic body polls being postponed for a year is gaining ground. In the meantime, pondering is going on for the imposition of President’s Rule in the State.

One can notice sparks flying thick and fast as the exchange of hot words between MVA Government and BJP has intensified now. No party is leaving a stone unturned to corner each other over one issue or another. Some are using or misusing power to pin down each other’s rivals. All this is leading to distancing of BJP and Shiv Sena to the point of no return.

As the BJP Government at the Centre ‘failed’ to pin down Shiv Sena, the party is planning to fire its last weapon by imposing President’s Rule in the State. The State Budget Session is currently going on and will end on March 30. If BJP insiders are to be believed, the President’s Rule might be imposed in the State anytime after the conclusion of the Budget Session. If this happens, both the parties could think of coming together for Assembly elections before the civic body polls.

In the last government BJP and Shiv Sena were in power. But in Assembly elections held in 2019, the big brotherly attitude of BJP enraged Shiv Sena and in the alliance with NCP and Congress, the party captured power. Jolted by this move, BJP has left no opportunity to slam Shiv Sena over one issue or another. Same is with the Shiv Sena. Now, BJP could be trying to impose President’s Rule in the State after the end of Budget Session to have a last laugh.
