Nagpur: In a sort of relief, petrol and diesel prices have not been hiked on Friday, April 1. The fuel rates remained unchanged. The fuel prices were hiked by 80 paise a litre each on Thursday, taking the total increase in rates in the last eleven days to Rs 6.40 per litre. Today is April Fool’s Day. And the one day pause in the hike could be temporary.
With no hike, petrol and diesel prices stand at Rs 116.38 per litre and Rs 99.15 per litre respectively in Nagpur.
The increase in fuel price recorded on Thursday was the ninth hike in prices since the ending of a four-and-half-month long hiatus in rate revision on March 22. On the first four occasions, prices were increased by 80 paise a litre — the steepest single-day rise. On the following days, petrol price went up by 50 paise and 30 paise a litre while diesel rose by 55 paise and 35 paise a litre. Petrol price was on Tuesday hiked by 80 paise a litre and diesel by 70 paise.
In all, petrol and diesel prices have gone up by Rs 6.40 per litre each.
