Two gangs involved in ganja smuggling, flesh trade busted in Nagpur

Nagpur: Acting swiftly on the audio clip going viral far the past two days, the Crime Branch of Nagpur police have busted two gangs involved in smuggling of ganja (marijuana) and flesh trade in the city on Monday. The action follows an audio clip of conversation of two gang leaders going viral on social media.

According to police, the two accused were arrested in a ganja smuggling case, while four were held for operating flesh trade. The accused Abhishek Lalit Pandey and Sonu Ganvir were arrested in connection with ganja smuggling while Vishal alias Dattu Khatik Dabhane, Sachin Ingle, Nikhil alias Satyadeep Ramesh Bangde and Vicky Bhosle were arrested on the charges of running flesh trade.

According to police and reports, the accused Abhishek’s father was working in the Armed Police Force. He was smuggling ganja under the guise of event management and catering services. Abhishek’s girlfriend met Dattu on March 8. Dattu took the girl and her female friends to Laxmi Restaurant where Dattu asked the girl to join his smuggling racket. He allegedly molested the girl during the conversation. She was also assaulted by Vicky, police said. Abhishek was angry with Dattu for molesting his girlfriend and abused Dattu during telephonic conversation.

It is learnt that Abhishek uttered the names of almost all the criminals of the city during the conversation. The audio clip went viral on social media after which the Crime Branch swung into action. Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested Abhishek and Sonu when they were returning from Odisha with a consignment of ganja with girls. Aman alias Goldie Ganvir, Suraj Bihari alias Tiwari and Imran are the other members of his gang.

Cops further said that the accused Dattu Khatik and his accomplices are involved in the sex racket. They had called two girls from Gondia to Nagpur for prostitution. The girls were staying at his house. The police have seized mobile phones of the girls and are studying chatting of the girls with customers. The police have also got the record of transactions through UPI payment, police said. The gang was misleading young girls from poor families of rural areas.

The accused Dattu and his accomplices were booked under Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 (POCSO) Act. The action was made under the guidance of DCP (Detection )Chinmay Pandit.
