Nagpur: A big vertical crack, separating a pillar and a temporary structure at Nagpur Metro’s Institution of Engineers Station was spotted on Saturday. The photographs of the crack went viral on social media. Later, the Maha Metro officials said that they would demolish the temporary structure.
According to reports, a cabin/enclosure-like structure was constructed with the support of a pillar at The Institution of Engineers Station of Maha Metro on Aqua Line. On Saturday, a vertical crack developed, separating the pillar and the structure. The photographs went viral on social media by late afternoon. Maha Metro placed a taped barricading near the place, and later covered the upper portion of the vertical crack with a net tied with ropes, to hold together the pillar and the structure.
According to Maha Metro, the structure was a ‘temporary’ one, constructed with support of the pillar at the said station. The temporary structure was constructed to enclose earthing strips, during inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety, some one-and-a-half years ago. Maha Metro had already decided to demolish the said temporary structure.
