Nagpur: The Rural Police cracked Butibori double murder case within 24 hours with arrest of four persons, including two brothers of the deceased man.
According to Superintendent of Police (Nagpur Rural) Vijay Magar, the deceased Uttam Bodkhe (31) was in an illicit relationship with Savita Parmar (38) due to which his brothers were facing problems to fix their marriages. The brothers were allegedly not getting marriage proposals due to their brother Uttam’s illicit relationship with Savita. There was also an ongoing dispute over property share between the brothers. Therefore, the brothers hatched the conspiracy and killed Uttam and Savita, said the SP at a press conference on Friday.
The accused have been identified as Rahul Suresh Bodkhe (27), Khushal Suresh Bodkhe (29),Vijay Vasantrao Bodkhe (30), all residents of Bihadi and Akash Ashok Raut (24), a resident of Karanja Ghadge. The accused Rahul and Khushal are brothers of deceased Uttam Suresh Bodkhe, a resident of Bihadi.
Police further said that Savita Govardhan Parmar (38), a resident of Sonegaon Mustafa, was working at the agricultural land of Uttam. Uttam fled the village with Savita within a year of his marriage. Since then, the two were staying in a rented accommodation at Nagpur. Uttam’s wife then left the matrimonial house. Later, her parents tied her nuptial knot with another man. The accused Rahul and Vijay were facing problems to fix their marriages due to illicit relationship of Uttam with Savita.
To get rid of the situation, the brothers hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Uttam. Rahul phoned Uttam and invited him to their village Bihadi to settle a property dispute. Uttam and Savita started for Bihadi on a motorcycle on Wednesday. The four accused met the couple near Bazargaon and urged them to sit in a Tavera vehicle. In a moving car, the accused strangled Uttam and Savita with a rope. The bodies were dumped in the Vena River near Butibori after tying a boulder, the police said.
The murder came to fore on Thursday. Butibori police registered a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code and started investigation.
After identifying the bodies, the police learnt from a neighbour of Uttam that he left Nagpur on a motorcycle with Savita to settle a property matter at his village. The clue helped the police to nab his brothers for interrogation. The brothers confessed to have committed the murder.
The double murder case was solved by PI LCB Omprakash Kokate, Butibori PI Bhimaji Patil, APIs Rajiv Karmalwar, Anil Raut and Jitendra Wairagade under the guidance of SP Vijay Magar, Addl SP Rahul Maknikar, and SDPO Puja Gaikwad.
