MD powder worth Rs 25 lakh seized from 3 drug peddlers in Nagpur

Nagpur: The Nagpur Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested three persons, including externed gambling kingpin Ibrahim Khan, and seized around 250 gm of mephedrone (MD), a narcotics powder, worth Rs 25 lakh after laying a trap at Parsodi near Khapri on Saturday. Apart from Ibrahim, his two aides, Shaikh Farooq and Rizwan Khan, too, were caught in the police dragnet when they were returning from Mumbai by road in a car.

The accused have been identified as Ibrahim Khan Akbar Khan (53), a resident of Hasanbag; Sheikh Faruque Sheikh Mehmood (42) and Rizwan Khan Wahid Khan (35), both residents of BadaTajbagh, Sakkardara.

Acting on a tip-off, the police nabbed the accused when they were passing through Khapri Parsodi area in a Tata Indigo car in the morning. The drug was recovered from the car of the accused persons, police said. Ibrahim Khan was externed goon, police said.

An offence under provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) was registered by the police.

The arrests were made by ACP Roshan Pandit, PI Manoj Sidam, API Badrinarayan Tambe, API Umesh Nasre and staff including Pramod Dhote, Samadhan Geete, Parmeshwar Kadu, Vinod Gaikwad, Narayan Parwekar, Manoj Neware, Suraj Bhanawat, Nitin Salunke, Mangesh Mapari, Sahdeo Chikhle, Rahul Patil, Anup Yadav and others under the guidance of DCP Detection Chinmay Pandit.
