Nagpur: Nandanvan Police have arrested a 44-year-old man involved in vehicle lifting activities. Besides arresting the accused identified as Sheikh Rafiq Sheikh Wakil, a resident of Shesh Nagar, Kharbi Road, cops have also recovered stolen mopeds and a bike collectively worth Rs 75,000.
According to police sources, complainant Kishor Shyamrao Mandape (35), a resident of Flat No 19, Raut Nagar, Bhola Kirana Store, Wathoda, was driving home from his job when he fell on the road following a headache on January 13, 2022 this year. He gained consciousness after a gap of 10 minutes, his moped Honda Activa (MH/31/FM/5978) was missing from the spot. Thereafter he approached Nandanvan Police Station with a complaint.
On August 3, Police Shepois Siddharth Patil, Vinod Zingare, Nitin Mishra, Premkumar Khairkar, Sharadsingh Tembhare and Police Constable Rajesh Bansode were on patrolling duty when they intercepted a suspicious man on Honda Activa (MH/31/FM/5978). The man identified himself as Sheikh Rafiq Sheikh Wakil. When Wakil refused to present any papers of the vehicle, cops grew suspicious. Following which he was interrogated, during which he confessed stealing the Honda Activa and two other vehicles.
The action was planned under the supervision of DCP Zone 4 Noorul Hasan, ACP Pundalik Bhatkar, Sr PI Kishor Nagrare, API Dilip Rahate of Nandanvan Police Station.
