Rains fail to dampen spirit as Nagpur celebrates I-Day with patriotic fervour

Nagpur: The monsoon rain failed to dampen the enthusiasm and zeal to celebrate 75 years of Independence on Monday in the Second Capital of Maharashtra. Tricolour was hoisted at every household in Nagpur on Monday morning — under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign.

The main function was held at the Divisional Commissionerate in Civil Lines in the city. The Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis who unfurled the tricolour and took salute said, “the occasion of Amrit Mahotsav celebration of India’s Independence is the right time to plan for the next 25 years and let us come together and contribute for all-round development of the State,” he said.

Fadnavis said, “Celebrating 75 years of independence is an opportunity to plan that is to be done in the next 25 years for the prosperity of society.” While talking about Nagpur, Fadnavis said, “Nagpur city had played a pivotal role in the freedom struggle. Nagpur city contributed a lot to the ‘Quit India Movement’. Many people sacrificed their lives for the freedom struggle.”

Fadnavis further said that the State Government is committed to the development of Nagpur. The city is developing and Nagpur Metro is the best example of it. There are many more development projects lined-up for the city which will start in coming years, said Fadnavis.

Talking about heavy rains in Vidarbha, Fadnavis said, “Farmers are suffering due to floods in many parts of the State. However, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced to take more help from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).Government is determined and working swiftly for the construction of infrastructure, repairs, loss of animals and crops etc.

Fadnavis also thanked and appreciated everyone in city for the great response to the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative. He also distributed prizes to achievers of different fields during the programme. Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Prasanna Bidari, Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Collector R Vimala along with all the senior officers of the central and State Government were present during the event. After the flag hoisting, Fadnavis interacted with freedom fighters and their families who were present for the event.

HQMC:
The Headquarters Maintenance Command, Vayusena Nagar celebrated Independence Day on Monday. Air Marshal Vibhas Pande AOC in-C, HQMC, IAF, Nagpur led the Independence Day celebrations by hoisting the National Flag in the presence of air warriors, DSC personnel and civilian employees.

Maha Metro Nagpur:
Maha Metro Nagpur celebrated by hoisting tricolour at Metro Bhavan. Dr Brijesh Dixit, MD, Maha Metro Nagpur hoisted tricolour. Mahesh Kumar, Director (Project); Sunil Mathur, Director (Rolling Stock); Anil Kokate, Director (Strategic Planning); Harindar Pandey, Director (Finance); and other officials and employees also were present during the occasion.

MECL:
The Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited (MECL) celebrated the Independence Day at MECL Corporate Office on Monday. Ghanshyam Sharma, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, MECL hoisted the National Flag followed by the National Anthem sung by the employees. Arvind Kumar, Director (Technical), Vinod Godghate, CVO, MECL, General Managers, Deputy General Managers, Head of Departments, senior officers, employees, along with Ritu Sharma, President and other members of Vama Club (MECL Officers’ Wives Association) and the family members. Winners of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Essay, Quiz, Poetryand Drawing competitions were given away the prizes at the hands of CMD, Director (Technical) and CVO of MECL.

Nagpur City (Distt) Congress Committee
The Nagpur City (Distt) Congress Committee hoisted the National Flag to mark Independence Day on Monday at Devadia Congress Bhavan. Vilas Muttemwar, Dr Anees Ahmed, Vishal Muttemwar, Umakant Agnihotri, Sheikh Husain, Atul Kotecha, Sandesh Singalkar, Nanda Parate, Praveen Aagre, Prashant Dhawad, Dr Gajraj Hatewar, Dinesh Banabakode, Raman Paigwar, Zulfikar Bhutto, Naish Ali, DineshTarale, RajeshPaunikar,Yuvraj Vaidya, Gyaneshwar Thakre, Mahesh Shriwas, Umesh Shahu, Dr Sudhir Aghaw, Adv Abhay Randiwe, and others were present during the event.
